Summer Camps
Channel children’s creativity and give them 21st century skills in a weeklong summer camp!
Kids can learn how to write, direct, and edit their own short digital movies in fun and educational programs.
With educationally-solid curricula that have been honed with thousands of students, programs cover pre-production, production, and post-production skills for quality digital storytelling. Separate campers into production groups and by the end of the week they will emerge with a finished short film or animation project, the knowledge of how to make movies on their own later, and fun memories of creating something from nothing!
Bring stories to life in clay!
Kids are only limited by their imaginations in a stop motion animation (Claymation) camp! A magical rainbow unicorn? A talking ice cream cone? An army of dolphins? These are all characters brought to life by kids in previous Digistars programs!
We watch and analyze animations to learn the elements of storytelling, and then map out our stories before molding characters and decorating the sets.
Use Green Screen Technology!
Using a green screen allows kids in live action programs to write stories that take place anywhere in time or space. Imagine the fun movies we could make that takes place on a space ship hurling through outer space, or in the old West, or even on the streets of Paris! Add custumes, props and special effects to enhance movies.
We watch clips of movies made with green screen technology and nail down the elements of storytelling along with the techniques of live action filmmaking through storyboards and shot lists.
Deep Dive into a Topic through a Documentary Film!
Kids can explore their passions and assemble movies to share their knowlege. Previous topics have included everything from Babe Ruth to how cats were viewed and treated in ancient Egypt.
Editing Makes the Difference!
Learn how to edit like a pro! We’ll do all the things that make a movie professional-looking: titles, credits, special effects, voice overs, background music, and more. Explore special effects like simulating crashes, smashes, and more.
