Summer Camps

Channel your child’s creativity this summer!

Campers learn how to write, direct, and edit their own short digital movies this summer in a fun and educational atmosphere. Choose either stop motion animation (Claymation™) or live action filmmaking using green screen technology… or join us for both!

With an educationally-solid curriculum led by professional working filmmakers with film degrees, camps cover pre-production, production, and post-production skills for quality digital storytelling. Campers split into production groups and emerge with a finished short film or animation project, the knowledge of how to make movies on their own later, and fun memories of creating something from nothing!

Bring your story to life in clay!

Kids are only limited by their imaginations in a stop motion animation (Claymation) camp! A magical rainbow unicorn? A talking ice cream cone? An army of dolphins? These are all characters brought to life by kids in previous Digistars programs!

We watch and analyze animations to learn the elements of storytelling, and then map out our stories before molding characters and decorating the sets.

Use Green Screen Technology!

Our giant green screen allows kids in live action programs to write stories that take place anywhere in time or space. Imagine the fun movie we could make that takes place on a space ship hurling through outer space, or in the old West, or even on the streets of Paris! Dive into our well-stocked custume trunk to add props and realistic effects to your movie.

We watch clips of movies made with green screen technology and nail down the elements of storytelling along with the techniques of live action filmmaking through storyboards and shot lists.

Let the Filming Begin!

Now we get to play with the intuitive Apple technology and shoot the movies! In both animation and live action programs, campers rotate through the various production roles in shooting and editing. Each child gets time to write, act, direct, operate the camera, and more, all under the gentle tutaledge of our expert instructors.

Editing Makes the Difference!

Learn how to edit like a pro! We’ll do all the things that make a movie professional-looking: titles, credits, special effects, voice overs, background music, and more. Live action programs explore special effects like simulating crashes, smashes, and more.
